Second grade math learning targets are broken up into trimester focuses as indicated below.
First trimester
- Mastery of addition and subtraction to 20 (strategies, mental math, timed quizes)
- Compute two-digit addition and subtraction without regrouping
- Graphing and data
Second trimester
- Place value to 100 (including addition and subtraction with regrouping)
- Combinations of $1.00
- Geometry
Third trimester
- Fractions (whole, 1/2, 1/4, 1/3) and probability
- Measurement
- Time (to the nearest 5 minutes)
Daily Plan
- CGI: problem solving with SMART board and math journaling.
- Lesson: learning target addressed through direct teaching, manipulatives,.
- Activity: Reinforcement of lesson with cooperative grouping.
- Small group work for reteaching of specific learning targets.
